About My Clients
For anyone who has ever been accused of being too emotional, too sensitive, too wild; for anyone who doesn't fit into the boxes society has created; for anyone who has struggled to find their place in the world-- you are my people. Many of my clients identify within the LGBTQ+ community and are between the ages of 12 and 40.
My Background and Approach
I invite you to join me in an exploration of self, where you are the expert of your own life and I am your guide, supporting you on your path to becoming. With your consent, I will hold space for you and will be honored to be a witness to your growth. What does it mean to hold space? It means the way in which we connect, the way in which I help you to feel safe, knowing that I will accept and validate your feelings and experiences while still holding you accountable, but always with the utmost softness and tenderness. I will assist you in finding your voice- that is, learning how to identify and verbalize what you want and need for yourself and from others. I specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community, which is extremely important to me. I have a great deal of training and experience in unpacking and exploring different aspects of identity, primarily gender and sexuality. I am skilled in supporting individual clients as well as their families through these journeys.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My queerness is an important part of my identity. I often refer to Bell Hooks’ definition of queer to explain this: “Queer not as being about who you’re having sex with (that can be a dimension of it) but queer as being about the self that is at odds with everything around it and has to invent and create and find a place to speak and to thrive and to live.” It has taken the majority of my life to get to a place where I feel comfort and joy in embodying all of the different pieces that make up who I am. I want so much for others to share in the utter ecstasy and freedom of living this way. I also feel very strongly about our human, innate connection to the earth that capitalistic society has attempted to make us forget by becoming numb and reaching for consumption as consolation. I believe firmly that one’s own mental health improves when they are more deeply connected to the natural world.
