About My Clients

You have read books, watched videos, and tried SO hard but you're still stuck, tired, and overwhelmed. Some experiences are so confusing! You are ready to do some work to make changes. You'd like to understand your situation and know there's a path to a calmer, less overwhelming life. If this sounds like you and if you'd like tools and techniques that can give you more control over your life, let's meet for a free consultation!

My Background and Approach

I am a board-certified counselor licensed in both Missouri and Kansas. I'm board-certified in telemental health (video counseling). I'm certified in working with ADHD and autism and complex trauma (including Dissociative Identity Disorder). My approach is client-centered and I tailor it to your individual needs. I am trauma-informed, attachment-informed, and neuro-affirming in my work. I am interested in maximizing your strengths rather than focusing on weaknesses. You and I are equal partners in the work we do together. My role is to show you your options and to trust you to choose what is right for you. The counseling relationship is the single biggest factor in the results you get. Because of that, I offer a free 15 to 20 minute video consultation. I want my people to be confident I am the right therapist for them before we get started.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My core belief is that, as Maya Angelou said, each of us is doing the best we can with what we know and that when we know better we do better. Both of my children are members of the LGBTQIA+ community. One of my children is transgender and of course has my full support. I have a particular desire to support members of the LGBTQIA+ community because I have seen how difficult this society can make it for people to live authentically and that these difficulties negatively impact LGBTQIA+ health. My pronouns are she/her and I will honor yours. I am neurodivergent (ADHD) and welcome neurodivergent clients. My entire family is neurodiverse; of the 4 of us, 2 have ADHD and 2 are autistic. For me, being neurodiverse IS typical! I believe you are the only one who knows what is best for you. My job is to help you find new ways of being and doing that are right for you. And, ultimately, my job is to work myself out of a job because you have all that you need.
