About My Clients

Yes, the state of the world right now is overwhelming. But to be honest, you've felt this way a long time: anxious, uncertain, despairing. Do you respond by trying to do everything perfectly, plan five steps ahead, never make any mistakes? Do you have a persistent feeling of "not good enough" that follows you from work to relationships to family? Is your mind often racing with thoughts about what you could have done better or how you disappointed someone?

My Background and Approach

I get what you’re going through. Believe me, I’ve been there. I also know there are ways out of this suffering — ways that are hard to find on your own — and that finding the right therapist can make all the difference. If you’re like most people who work with me, your inner critic is so loud and persistent you can’t hear any of the other voices in your head, and you miss out on the wisdom and compassion that is in there somewhere (it’s in everyone!). I help you slow down so you can listen to all the parts of you, so you can deeply understand yourself, identify your real goals in life, and learn how to treat yourself with the warmth, love, and compassion you have for your friends and family. I use a variety of mindfulness-based approaches in my work as a therapist, primarily Accelerated Experiential-Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). I also incorporate visual arts, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and wisdom from mindfulness meditation practices.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In and out of the therapy room I actively support LGBTQI rights, stand up for Black lives, and fight for affordable health care access for all. I do my best to stay open to continuously learn about my unconscious biases, and welcome feedback from clients when I make a misstep or put my foot in my mouth. I am a lifelong animal lover and worked as a professional seeing-eye-dog trainer for a decade before becoming a therapist. I am passionate about animal rights and a firm believer in the therapeutic value of petting a dog or looking at cute cat photos online.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
