About My Clients
You've been looking to get some outside support in your life. You know there's a big shift or change on the near horizon but you're not yet sure how to navigate it. Or you've been living with a chronic issue such as anxiety or grief but haven't found a way to walk easily with this uninvited 'guest', in your life. My diverse practice has clients with a variety of 'walking in the door' issues but everyone shares a deep desire to make the most from their one "wild and precious life." (Mary Oliver)
My Background and Approach
My approach would best be described as eclectic; I hold no allegiance to one specific approach. Science, experience, some wisdom and the lessons plain old life has shown me do most of the heavy lifting. My practice is filled with interesting, engaged and motivated clients, just like you. I've worked in the field of addiction and recovery for my entire career ~ funny thing about that specialty is that the skills required translate so well to grief, loss, change, healing, retirement strategizing, anxiety, chronic illnesses ~ which is great because those are all areas I love to support my clients with. Listing out my credentials and the workshops I've attended make this about me and the reality is that this is about you. I'm not everyone's cup of tea and that's OK. If you'd like to learn more I'd be happy to chat with you because a good fit is the main ingredient in a therapeutic relationship that will be of most help to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I come from a background and family where science rules. As science tells us more, I shift my practices. I believe in giving you the tools (information, insights, hardcore proven facts) to help you make decisions and shape practices that work best for you. I fully acknowledge that we need to have enough personal evidence to help us make shifts that are extremely difficult to achieve. It is also my responsibility to know when to step in with a bit more of a directive when the time is right; watching you walk off a cliff without a warning isn't cool. When I am not working with clients or on the business of a solo practice I am baking, volunteering my time to a number of issues that are important to me and gardening.
