About My Clients
Everyone deserves to be heard. You have a story worth telling so that you can shatter the silence and no longer feel invisible to those around you. Sure, they may see what you allow them to, but do they see the struggle, the pain, the torment that's going on inside? I would love to help you process all the scars that life has left behind so that they can finally heal. I want to offer you a safe, nonjudgemental space to work through all that you've been carrying around. My door is open to you.
My Background and Approach
I think every person deserves an individualized approach. Not every technique or tool works for every person. There is no "one size fits all" answer here. Your experiences are unique - your pain is unique - your grief is unique - so healing will also be unique. I have extensive experience in working with trauma, abuse, grief, depression, and anxiety. I also specialize in women's issues and maternal mental health. With my background comes a ton of different tools, so to speak, that we can use to create your own unique path to healing. Of all the tools I carry with me, though, I have found that the therapeutic relationship is the most powerful piece of the puzzle. Without a trusting, connected relationship, how can a therapist know enough about you and your world to offer guidance, support, and methods that will actually work and decrease your pain versus adding stress to your life? There is also something extraordinarily powerful in being seen and heard and believed and valued.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I consider myself a spiritual person more than a religious person, but I think it's important that anyone who works with me knows that while I value my relationship with my God, I also value your relationship - or lack of relationship - with whatever and whoever you believe in. My beliefs call me to accept and love everyone that comes to me. I also have a very deep love for animals. I like to say that I am the Chaos Coordinator at my house with a toddler and, get this, five furbabies. How does that even happen?! I have three dogs and two cats (one of which is more like a dog-cat than an actual 'pet me with your eyes' cat). I also firmly believe that where there is anger, there is hurt and that hurt can be healed so that anyone can live a life seeking joy instead of having to feel suffocated by anger and resentment. Those emotions make you human and we all experience them, but they don't have to rule us or our lives.
