About My Clients
Do you sometimes feel out of place in your body, in your family, in your community? The emotional pain that can accompany feelings of anxiety, low confidence, and difficulty feeling connected to others can be a lot to process on your own. You are not alone. A safe therapeutic relationship can help you through this. I support my clients in deep inner reflections, building anxiety management skills, and sharpening your ability to be compassionate and forgiving towards yourself and others.
My Background and Approach
I have experience providing my clients with both a practical toolkit of skills to manage distress as well as a safe space to dive deeper into exploring anxiety, depression, fear, and low self confidence. I believe in creating a collaborative process, gradually taking steps to lower your symptoms while simultaneously facilitating personal growth. I have specialized training and experience working with body image issues, and utilize a Health at Every Size, body neutral stance around these issues. I also have significant history working with LGBT identified clients around identity issues, including how body image and intersect and interact with our other identities. As a highly sensitive person, I have gone on my own journey of discovering, understanding, and accepting this trait - I use that personal experience to help guide you through the self discovery process. Whatever issue you bring to session, I will help you to navigate the murky gray areas, developing clarity and light.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value transparency in the therapy process above all else, which for me means being upfront and honest about the differences between myself and my clients as well as the power differential given the inherent nature of the therapeutic relationship. I use this framework to be mindful of intersectional identities and systems of oppression impact your psychological experience. I am a queer identified, White, cis-gendered woman who lives in a larger body. I am aware of both the privilege that I have and the oppressive systems that are upheld by that privilege. I am constantly engaged in reading and trainings that allow me to take in differing perspectives, as I feel this is essential for my growth as a therapist and human. In my personal life, I enjoy trying new foods, traveling, watching basketball, and spending time with my wife and cat. Please visit my website to learn more about me and my professional experience.
