About My Clients
I believe in a strength-based approach, helping people use their inherent strengths to overcome challenges. When appropriate, I like to sprinkle in humor to create a warm and relatable atmosphere. Genuineness and comfortability is important, especially when taking the leap to start therapy, being transparent is something that I strive for.
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic style is eclectic, allowing me to tailor my approach to meet each person where they are. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including trauma therapy with a specialization in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy. I have also used EMDR to treat anxiety, phobias, and loss. I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bemidji State University and a Master’s degree in clinical counseling from the University of Minnesota in Duluth. I have experience working with individuals aged 10 and up, providing family therapy, and working with college students at Fon du Lac Tribal and Community College.
