About My Clients
Less than 16% of therapists in Texas are male, which may very well be why so many men don’t go to therapy. I specialize in men’s issues, including fatherhood, life transitions and stigma. Additionally, families often need support when raising their children. I work with families and children through difficult transitional times, such as grief, school anxiety, college transitions, and family communication.
My Background and Approach
After we have identified your goals, I often focus on an eclectic approach to determine what best fits your needs. I have extensive experience with interpersonal psychology, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), reality therapy and brief psychodynamic therapy. I also specialize in trauma and grief component therapy for those who have experienced a traumatic death from suicide or accident. Additionally, I am a trained play therapist and provide play therapy in my office for children as young as 5.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As an LCSW who focuses on nurturing family relationships, I'm also a PhD student who focuses my research on the impact technology has on family communication. My expertise lies in digital wellness for co-parenting and parent-child interactions. Additionally, I've conducted research on stigma, suicide support, and cultural competency. I believe that a strong family is a strong future, and the cycle of abuse, addiction, depression and other mental health issues can be broken with good therapy and personal wellness.
