About My Clients
Do you ask yourself why you end up in relationships that leave you feeling hurt? Are you walking around with a constant sense of anxiety and dread? Tired of pretending to have it all together? Do you feel like life could be so much more, but you just don't know how to make that happen? Together, you and I will figure out what is really going on.
My Background and Approach
I help those with suffering emotional and psychological difficulties using a holistic approach, which emphasizes the mind-body relationship. My primary therapy models include an evidence-based fusion of EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. Throughout your journey in therapy you will learn to move through life in a different way in order to get where you need to be. You will search inward to discover where these unconscious, habitual patterns originate, and how to heal. I earned my B.A. degree in Psychology, with a minor in Women's Studies at UMBC and my Masters Degree in Counselor Education at VA Tech. I am a mother to three adult children. Part of my ability as a helper stems from my own family of origin and experience of trauma as a child. Later in life, I was diagnosed with ADHD and became well trained in the field. As a practitioner, I have noticed a connection in many clients with symptoms of ADHD, emotional dysregulation, addiction, and early childhood trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
What we tell ourselves ends up being what we believe --- A story that is created in our mind. I believe in the power of therapy that guides us toward rewriting our stories, and thus changing our lives.
